About this book

The completely revised basic work presents itself at the state of the art. The numerous explanations on sustainable building systems are brought together in the new chapter "Energy Concepts". The technical content is condensed according to the facts and contexts relevant to architects and civil engineers. The extensive illustration section with detailed drawings for pictorial commentary on the text has been revised and updated. The "Bean" thus remains an indispensable basic work for keeping pace with the dynamic technological development, the increasing demands for comfort and the requirements for an economical and environmentally friendly use of energy in technical building.

Frontmatter
Chapter 1. Basics
Abstract
Some requirements for the planning of technical facilities in buildings are described. These include the basics of thermal comfort in rooms, the conceptual approach to the planning of the technical infrastructure and the estimation of necessary technical centres. The description of the possible routing and routing also takes into account sound, heat and fire protection requirements and explains the criteria for the influence on the structure.
Dirk Bohne
Chapter 2. Sanitary Rooms
Abstract
The planning of sanitary rooms requires knowledge of standards, technology of supply and disposal as well as ergonomics. Once fixed connection points make the facility less variable and can only be changed by expensive preliminary work after installation. This makes comprehensive planning with all parties involved necessary. The most important planning basics are described in the following Sects. 2.1.1 kitchens, 2.1.2 housework rooms and 2.1.3 bathrooms and toilets.
Dirk Bohne
Chapter 3. Waste Water and Water Technology
Abstract
The provision and disposal of buildings with water and wastewater facilities is explained. The planning and calculation basics of wastewater facilities are presented and demonstrated with example calculations. Details of the piping systems, construction and material selection are discussed. Facilities outside the building such as small sewage treatment plants, infiltration systems or building drainage are also described in detail. In addition to the provision of drinking water with planning and calculation basics, the construction of simple and automatic fire extinguishing systems is part of this chapter. Also shown are rainwater and greywater use systems.
Dirk Bohne
Chapter 4. Heating and Cooling Systems
Abstract
After the basics of heat transfer calculation (heating load and cooling load) are explained, heating and cooling systems are described, divided into generation and distribution. The distinction is made according to energy carrier (generation) and the use of renewable energy. Many details of the generation systems are listed, including construction details (e.g. exhaust gas systems) with references to standards and laws. Holistic supply concepts with integrated heating, cooling and power-heat-cold-coupling systems are presented with numerous examples. Heating and cooling distribution systems in rooms are presented as an essential feature of the perceived thermal quality with design tips and examples.
Dirk Bohne
Chapter 5. Ventilation Systems
Abstract
All variants of room air conditioning systems are explained using the definition of natural ventilation and mechanical ventilation. After explaining the terminology, the structure and function of residential ventilation, individual ventilation and room air conditioning systems are described. The individual components of the system are differentiated according to type (air-air system, air-water system) and application. Decentralized systems (façade ventilation units) and special systems are followed by the calculation basics. The chapter concludes with examples of applications (office buildings, schools, hotels, hospitals).
Dirk Bohne
Chapter 6. Electrical Engineering
Abstract
The construction of high-voltage installations for buildings with supply from medium and low voltage installations is explained. The basics of self-generation with photovoltaics and small wind turbines are also part of it. Telecommunications and information technology differentiate the numerous applications for telecommunications, electroacoustics, television and antenna systems, alarm and alarm systems and data technology. The representation of building automation closes the chapter.
Dirk Bohne
Chapter 7. Conveying Systems
Abstract
Conveying equipment must be considered and integrated by building planners at a very early stage of planning. Conveying equipment is divided into lifts and escalators and explained according to technical and constructive criteria. The relevant solutions are presented with numerous planning data according to the relevant regulations and guidelines.
Dirk Bohne
Chapter 8. Energy Concepts
Abstract
The criteria of an energy concept for buildings is explained based on the heat, cold and electricity demand for buildings and the connection to the individual representations described in different chapters is established. The relationships of the evaluation of efficiency from the primary energy value to the “network friendliness” of the system concepts and the calculation method for the economic calculation are listed. This chapter concludes with an overview of the topic “smart home”.
