The development of modern large engines is subject to a variety of requirements. Besides dealing with increasing operating loads due to higher break mean effective and cylinder pressures, increasingly complex systems need to be attached to the engine in the future, e.g. multi-stage turbo charging, complex exhaust after treatment or systems for waste heat utilisation. If these components are mounted directly on the engine, they can have a negative influence on the vibration during operation. FEV GmbH presents a simulation process for the efficient protection of the NVH performance and for securing the endurance strength at the same time using the example of a large bore medium-speed diesel engine. …
