In March, the U.S. Census Bureau (Census) began the release of data from the 2012 Economic Census (EC) (US Bureau of the Census 2014b). The March release date is about six months after the originally scheduled date and largely reflects cuts by the Congress in the President’s budget request. The House of Representatives actually wanted to eliminate the program in FY 2013, but through the efforts of NABE and many other organizations, funding was largely restored in the Senate (National Association for Business Economics 2012).
