A Review on Topologies for Transformer-Less Grid-Connected PV Inverter

Abstract

This article represents a review on topologies for transformer-less grid-connected PV inverter. The transformer-less grid-connected PV inverter systems are having many advantages, but it is suffered from leakage current which affects the converter system efficiency. Earlier, many topologies have been presented for the reduction of leakage currents. Leakage currents mainly depend on the common mode (CM) voltage of the topologies. The CM voltage is affected by the parameters of the parasitic capacitor. To remove the leakage currents, the CM voltage must be maintained as constant for the whole operation of the inverter. At present, the topologies like H5, H6, and HERIC are used to remove the leakage current by keeping CM voltage as constant. In this, the SPWM techniques and operating states of H5, H6, and HERIC topologies are analyzed and compared to improve the converter efficiency by reducing the leakage current with CM voltage as constant.
