Abstract

In previous methods based on SOOS TFs and LTA for VBLSs and CRTSs, initial faults (i.e., bolt-loosening faults are at their early stages) are considered. Thus, faults will not affect structural linear parameters and only introduce additional damping and stiffness nonlinearities (Johnson and Adams, J Vib Acoust 124:634–641, 2002, Li XZ, Peng ZK, Dong XJ, Zhang WM, Meng G, Shock Vib (2015), Li et al., J Vib Control 23:2307–2327, 2017, Peng et al., J Sound Vib 301:777–788, 2007, Peng and Lang, J Appl Mech 77, 2010, Zhao et al. 2015, Li and Jing, Nonlinear Dyn 89:587–606, 2017). Based on this, effects of inherent nonlinearities caused by materials and/or boundaries on fault features and indicators can be eliminated with additional SOOSs from the reference structure.
