Abstract

In this work, nano-LiMn0.8Fe0.2PO4/C is synthesized via dimethyl sulfoxide-assisted co-precipitation route, and various additives are introduced to disturb the phosphate crystal growth. Among the investigated systems, introducing beta-cyclodextrin and ascorbic acid decreases the surface area of the prepared samples, whereas involving hexadecyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) effectively diminishes the particle size of LiMn0.8Fe0.2PO4. Due to the reduced diffusion length and augmented active area, samples from systems containing CTAB exhibited improved electrochemical performance, 155 mAh g−1 at 0.05 C and 120 mAh g−1 at 5 C, relative to the control sample (152 and 114 mAh g−1 at 0.05 and 5 C). Our results indicate that the LiMnPO4 kinetics could be tailored using appropriate additives.
