Customers demand for long life reliability of MD/HD machines together with wide range of application types and fuel variety pushes towards comprehensive validation methodologies. It becomes of a paramount importance a deep insight of the product to enable the understanding of significant failure modes and properly shape testing activity. By using accurate analytical damage models to describe failure mechanism, it is possible to select relevant parameters to accelerate the test and respond to the aggressive time to market without creating fictitious failure modes not representative of the real application. The paper presents the product validation methodology for assessment of long life reliability of MD/HD Liebherr Common Rail System, from the mission profile analysis to the definition of a relevant damage model and its validation via comparison with test results.
