The current structure of the IAG is analyzed and its suitability for supporting a strong research focus of the IAG is examined. The analysis shows that there are some serious drawbacks and unbalances in the current structure which limit its internal functioning. In addition, the research interaction with organizations outside the IAG is often not effective and response times are slow. It appears that a clear focus for IAG research is required and that such a focus would require major changes in the IAG structure. Some suggestions on the required changes are made in the Conclusions and Recommendations.
