Abstract

We present the analysis of the mechanism of in-service wear of the working rolls of wide-band rolling mills on an example of a 1950 mill from the casting-rolling complex of the “VMZ” JSC. We determine the main regularities of the process of wear that should be taken into account in planning roll changes in the course of operation. The performed analysis of the character of the wear profiles enables us to use a more reasonable approach to the choice and correction of sizes in the process of turning the rolls down to the required size.
