Abstract

The 5th Generation (5G) systems have the objective of delivering fiber like performance in a wireless environment. It is expected to connect all devices including mobile phones, cars, and home appliances and so on. Realization of the objective of the 5G systems needs a huge amount of spectrum. 5G new radio (NR) is the proposed standard for 5G that operates below 6 GHz (mid band 1–6 GHz) and above 6 GHz (high band at above 24 GHz). The unlicensed nature of spectrum enables simultaneous communication for anyone causing mutual interference between the operators. Solution to the problem of this interference and improvement to the performance of 5G NR are the subject of this paper done through analytic hierarchy process. Using this approach, user priority to access the spectrum is calculated without any conflict of interest among other secondary users. The simulation results show the feasibility of achievement of efficient spectrum utilization even with increase in the number of users in the systems.
