Abstract

This essay will look at and discuss the following question: To what extent does adaptive capacity lead to resilience and innovation in the art industry in times of crisis? This topic is currently of relevance as many artists and those in the creative and cultural sectors seek to bounce back from the pandemic that caused many to have to reassess their art business and use their creativity to become innovative in finding new sources of revenue streams. As mentioned in the chapter ‘Art as a business’, Arts (or the creative industries) is very important to the economy on various touchpoints. This essay addresses three factors that may help artists remain successful during times of crisis.
