On its imposing front, the angular SUV sports large, vertical kidney grilles, which are combined with slim laser headlights. "The new BMW design language employs just a few, extremely precise lines and subtle surface-work to raise the bar in terms of presence and prestige", explains Adrian van Hooydonk, head of BMW Group Design. The rear of the X7 also has vertical elements, such as air breathers, which stand out from the narrow horizontal tail lights including lighting strip.
The vehicle interior’s two 12.3-inch displays herald a new operating concept. The instrument cluster and central touchscreen display are located close to each other. The centre console houses the gear selector switch and the iDrive Controller. A total of six seats occupy three rows; the middle row is designed as two individual seats. The passengers can operate the rear-seat entertainment system’s touch monitors from there. A large panoramic glass roof spans all the seat rows.
The BMW Concept X7 will pioneer a new model range
The BMW Concept X7 iPerformance has an as-yet unspecified plug-in hybrid powertrain consisting of a twin turbo petrol engine and an electric drive. This new model, together with the BMW 7 Series, the new BMW 8 Series, as well as BMW i8 and i8 Roadster, is to be part of a new model range for the luxury segment, distinguished by the unmistakeable black-and-white logo with the company name "Bayerische Motoren Werke" written out in full.
