Seat have revealed the new Leon. The compact class vehicle is based on the modular transverse matrix of the VW Group and its technology is heavily orientated towards that of the recently released VW Golf 8.

The new Seat Leon is based on VW Group's MQB Evo platform. The fourth generation is 4,368 millimetres long (+86 mm), 1,800 millimetres wide (-16 mm) and 1,456 millimetres high (-3 mm). The wheelbase has increased by 50 millimetres to 2,686 millimetres. The estate, named the Sportstourer, is 4,642 millimetres long (+93 mm), 1,800 millimetres wide (-16 mm) and 1,448 millimetres high (-3 mm).
The Seat Leon has undergone carefully-considered design changes. Thanks to a longer bonnet and slightly repositioned headlights, the front looks more dynamic. The side view reveals a sharply rising window line at the wide C-pillar, and at the rear an LED light strip connects the rear lights.
Digital interior with ambient lighting
As with its VW Group brother, the Golf, the interior has a minimalist design and is fully networked. The Seat digital cockpit has a 10.25-inch display with customisable display instruments. The central infotainment touchscreen with voice and gesture control is between 8.25 and 10 inches in size, while Apple Carplay and Android Auto Online are part of the standard range like the connectivity unit with built-in SIM card. An ambient light runs across the whole cockpit and along the doors, which also takes over functions for the blind spot assist and the exit assist. The boot space is 380 litres and, in the ST model, 617 litres.
The Seat Leon’s engine range is similar to that of the Golf, from TSI petrol engines and diesel engines (TDI), a CNG variant (TGI) right through to mild hybrid models (eTSI) and plug-in hybrids (eHybrid). The Leon has various optional driver assistance systems, some of which are optional, and includes, among other things, an ACC with predictive speed control, emergency assistant, travel assist for semi-automated driving, as well as side assist, exit warning and an adaptive suspension control. The Seat Leon will be available from the end of 2020 in the Reference, Style, Xcellence and FR versions.
