In How to Kill a City: Gentrification, Inequality and the Fight for the Neighborhood, Moskowitz does a masterful job of identifying redevelopment or gentrification though the theoretical knowledge found in academe, and the lived experiences of people in several cities. The author splits the book into four sections to intricately explain how gentrification has taken root and manifested itself in New Orleans, Detroit, San Francisco, and New York. By highlighting research and examining policy, structural racism, and social trends, the author is able to create a timeline of how gentrification happened in these cities and how it affects each city similarly and differently. …
