In the previous chapter we found that there were three determinants of the money supply: (i)the asset preferences (cash/deposit ratio) of the commercial banks;(ii)the preferences of the non-bank public regarding the form in which they wish to hold their money (i.e. as deposits or notes);(iii)the cash reserves of the commercial banks.
