Abstract
The previous chapter described the development of psychophysiological techniques for detecting deception. Three methods of polygraph-assisted interrogation were mentioned—the RIT, the CQT, and the GKT—with an emphasis on the most commonly used method, the CQT. In this chapter we shall critically compare the three methods with respect to their inference rules, their underlying rationales and assumptions, and their potential for becoming a scientifically based tool in the true sense of the term.
