Extrusion Flow between Parallel Plates

Abstract

Parallel pipe flow and non-viscometric flow between parallel plates are of industrial relevance, and have received attention theoretically1 and experimentally.2 A flow which combines both characteristics, such as injection moulding, is equally relevant, though the complex transition from pipe to radial flow is much less understood. In this paper we calculate the flow field using numerical methods. The flow domain is shown in fig. 1.
