Abstract
We introduce the inverse of the hermitian operator (ââ†) and express the Boson inverse operators â−1 and a†−1 in terms of the operators â, at and (âât)−1. We show that these Boson inverse operators may be realized by Susskind—Glogower’s phase operators. We find a family of three two-photon annihilation operators (ââ†)-1 â 2, â(âât)−1â and â2(ââ†)−1 and show that the eigenstates of these operators have interesting nonclassical properties including squeezing and antibunching of photons.

There are various situations when the field is nonclassical even if it does not exhibit squeezing as well as antibunching of photons. For example, see, G.S. Agarwal and K. Tara, Phys. Rev. A, 46, 485 (1992).
