Abstract

Purpose: This article reflects the results of the authors’ study of the impact of the qualification characteristics of professional standards on human development using professional standards in the forestry industry as an example and questioning the role of human capital, which is a major factor in the economic development of the industry.

Design/Methodology/Approach: Authors examine qualification characteristics and ways of achieving them, as well as the algorithm of implementation of professional standards in the forestry industry of the Russian Federation. Using a systemic approach, the authors come to the conclusion about the key problems associated with the transition to professional standards in the forestry industry using the Krasnoyarsk Territory as an example.

Findings: This study is relevant due to the fact that the compliance of specialists with certain qualification characteristics in one or another type of economic activity allows these specialists not only to respond in a timely manner to modern labor market demands, but also to realize their human potential.

Originality/Value: The authors have determined that understanding the basics of the professional standard, being able to analyze and compare the requirements for qualifications, knowledge and skills established in the professional standard, is an element of “professional literacy” that allows the employee to adjust to the needs of the labor market in a timely manner and professionally develop in accordance with these trends, and the employer to obtain a specialist that meets the most recent requirements of the economy.
