Abstract
We are living in the digital age. Never before in history could we communicate with others, and access, create, and share so much information so effortlessly, rapidly, and nearly ubiquitously. When we turn to our computers or smart phones we are constantly tempted by innumerable choices of information to consume and produce. The consequence of having so many choices is that they compete for our attention. When we use digital media we continually switch our attention between different types of information while doing different types of tasks—in other words, we multitask.
