Abstract
Detailed Cladocera morphology was most recently described by Flößner (1972, 2000), Fryer (1974), Štifter (1991), Smirnov (1996), Dumont and Negrea (2002), Elmoor-Loureiro (2005), Kotov and Štifter (2006), Szeroczyńska and Sarmaja-Korjonen (2007), Kotov (2013), and by several authors of monographs and keys devoted to particular Cladocera groups cited in the next chapters. Smirnov and Kotov (2010) discussed the setal equipment of the cladoceran antenna, appendices, and thoracic limbs, which differ significantly between planktonic and benthic species. Most recently published was a monograph about the morphology and phylogeny of Anomopoda by Kotov (2013), but unfortunately, it is in Russian and is not available to a wider forum of researchers. The morphological details and terminology with abbreviations used in this key are presented in Figs. 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 7.4, 7.5, 7.6, 7.7, 7.8, and 7.9.
