Abstract
This Chapter revisits the main argument and assumptions made in the first two chapters and reviews them in light of the empirical findings extracted from Chaps. 3 and 4. In particular, this Chapter draws out tentative answers to the empirical puzzle as to why security community disintegration took place in one case (German Confederation) but not (yet) in the other case (NATO), including the significance of social unlearning, the role of transnational actors and the interaction among powerful core states. Finally, it offers some theoretical implications as well as suggestions for further research.
