Characteristics of Israeli Society: The Context Youth is Brought Up

  • Chapter
Democratic Development?

Abstract

There are many beliefs and perceptions about Israeli society that are far removed from today’s reality. Over the years, many institutions and social values have undergone transformation and change beyond recognition; yet, many people choose to cling to the nostalgic images that romanticize reality, while at the same time creating untrue mythology and expectations.

The author wishes to thank Ms. Ruhama Gusinski and Ms. Orit Karnielli of The Minerva Center of Youth studies for helping in the research that was involved in writing this chapter.
