Abstract

X-ray elastic scattering techniques used for the nondestructive characterization of aperiodic superlattices are studied in this paper. A superlattice (SL) is a layered system formed by a multilayer (ML) deposited on a substrate. According to the given rule for the layer sequence the multilayer can be either periodic or aperiodic. Due to the lateral translational invariance, the ML can be viewed as an artificial 1D superstructure in the growth direction.
