Abstract
This book is intended to be a comprehensive source on the history of wood conservation, on the structure and properties of wood, on organisms causing deterioration, on methods of diagnosis of wood condition, on materials and methods of wood preservation, on consolidation of deteriorated wood, and on adhesives for wood. An overview of the use of particular conservation materials and methods is presented as they apply to dry wood as well as to wet or waterlogged wood, the division being based roughly on the fiber saturation point.
