Abstract

Consider R n — the linear space of all linear transformations on an n-dimensional space. The trace t(A) defined for AR n is a complex valued linear functional whose characteristic properties are simple and well known. Moreover τ(A) = t([A]) defines a norm on R n . An extension of these facts is being presented in the discussion which follows.
