Zusammenfassung

Klassische funktionelle neurologische Störungen, wie funktionelle Bewegungsstörungen, psychogene nicht-epileptische Anfälle, funktionelle Sehstörungen oder subjektiver Schwindel, finden sich auch bei geriatrischen Patienten, wenn auch möglicherweise nicht so häufig wie bei jüngeren Personen. Etwa ein Drittel der älteren Menschen entwickelt nach einem Sturz mit Verletzung ein Post-Fall-Syndrom. Dies führt nicht nur zu Immobilität und sozialen Isolation, sondern auch zu einer erhöhten Mortalität. Diagnostisch und therapeutisch hat sich in den letzten Jahren bei diesen, unbehandelt mit schlechter Prognose verbundenen Erkrankungen einiges getan, wobei die wichtigsten Aspekte noch nicht validiert sind. Zusammenfassend ist das Thema trotz recht „dünner“ Datenlage relevant für das umfassende Verständnis des neurogeriatrischen Patienten hinsichtlich Lebensqualität, Mobilität, Aktivität und sozialer Teilhabe.
