Abstract
The color of structural and monumental stone challenges the engineer and architect to achieve with it the most effective and harmonious appearance in structural or architectural design. The utilization of different color shades of stone has given new life to many existing structures. Rock — or “stone” — is composed of one or more minerals. Stone colors are, therefore, influenced by the color of the predominant mineral itself, by the adjacent minerals, and by grain size.
