Abstract
Before focusing on the topic of demarcation in funding for vocational education in the United States, a brief overview of vocational education in the United States is presented under two headings: (1) the vocational education enterprise, and (2) major federal initiatives. This background serves as a context for understanding later remarks made about funding demarcation in the United States.
This chapter was initially prepared for presentation at the Symposium Session on Dimensions of a Vocational Core Curriculum: Controversies about Competencies and Key Qualifications at the 3rd International Interdisciplinary Conference of the International Research Network far Training and Development. held June 23-25, 1994. at the University of Milan, Italy.
