  • Chapter
Carabid Beetles: Ecology and Evolution

Part of the book series: Series Entomologica ((SENT,volume 51))

Summary

The carabid fauna of loess grasslands, alkaline and salty steppes of the Hortobágy National Park was studied according to geomorphological conditions in seven different habitats with pitfall traps between 1987–1989.

An endemic species (Poecilus kekesiensis Nyilas) new to science was discovered in the territories of the Hortobágy National Park.

Two carabid species new to the fauna of Hungary were found (Amara strenua Zimmermann, Microlestes fulvibasis Reitter) and their habitats were given.

Ten carabid species new to the fauna of the Hortobágy National Park were pointed out, their habitats and ecology were described.
