The External Face of Europeanization: Third Countries and International Organizations

  • Chapter
The Europeanization of National Policies and Politics of Immigration

Part of the book series: Migration, Minorities and Citizenship ((MMC))

Abstract

‘Europeanization’ has many faces. As an analytical concept, this term has mainly been applied to study the effects of EU legislation on member states. Yet, it has also been used to describe a variety of processes of social and political change such as the reconfiguration of territorial boundaries in the process of European integration; the strengthening of EU institutions; or, as used in this chapter, as repercussions of the European integration process on the outside world, non-member states and international organizations (Olsen 2002).
