Abstract

This book presents a tutorial review of architectures and circuit blocks suitable for modern RF receivers implemented as CMOS integrated circuits. It is described an RF receiver, with passive high-Q bandpass filters integrated in a CMOS wideband LNA with noise and distortion cancellation, and with a current-mode Σ Δ ADC that converts directly the IF signal at the current-driven mixer’s output to the digital domain, thus, avoiding the use of unnecessary blocks at the analog front-end. The techniques reviewed allow the design of a fully integrated receiver. This low cost solution is required, for instance, in biomedical applications.
