Abstract

Like many African countries, Swaziland has an anti-corruption institution. However, as is also the case in many African countries, despite the existence of this commission, corruption persists in the Kingdom. This chapter examines the nature and extent of the corruption problem in the Kingdom and summarizes its consequences and the role and impact of the Anti-Corruption Commission in controlling said corruption. It then offers a set of policy measures to combat that corruption, taking into consideration best international practice and measures that can lead to the un-capturing of the societal culture itself that has become captive and therefore a major contributing factor to corruption in the Kingdom.
