Abstract

What non-technical career-sustaining competencies are needed for the success of budding entrepreneurs in facilitating Atmanirbhar Bharat in 2047?  In the context of the preceding question, we seek to promote reflection and dialog that results in action on modifying curricula that facilitates learning and the internalization non-technical career-sustaining competencies and values in our budding entrepreneurs. In this paper, we introduce Industry 4.0 and the Make in India construct in a digitally transforming world. We suggest that the Make in India construct is insufficient to attain Atmanirbhar Bharat 2047. To foster dialog in the context of Industry 4.0, we introduce Design Engineering 4.0 and touch upon the need for adopting the Design and Make in India construct. We suggest that design educators need to provide value that transcends that which is currently embodied in our technical content-driven curricula. We end by posing questions for fostering dialog geared toward action.
