Development of a Method for Reprocessing Technogenic Lead Production Raw Materials to Extract Rhenium and Arsenic

Abstract

The results of an experimental study into the reduction smelting of rhenium-containing cyclone dust obtained from lead production are presented. The optimal dust processing modes characterized by the extraction of water-soluble rhenium (80–84.3%) and water-insoluble arsenic compounds (65–70%) into sodium sulfate slag are established. Thermogravimetric studies were carried out to establish the partial transition mechanism of rhenium and arsenic into sublimates during the reduction smelting process. The unfavorable transition of rhenium and arsenic to sublimates was shown to occur prior to the onset of coke ignition and formation of sodium sulfate melt.
