14. Development of JKR/BSEEP Technical Passive Design Guideline for the Malaysian Building

Abstract

The Building Sector Energy Efficiency Project (BSEEP) in Malaysia, developed by the JKR (Public Works Department) and UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) was aimed at reducing the growth rate of GHG emissions of the building industry in Malaysia. This technical guideline is required to be made relevant to the building industry, addressing immediate concerns from building design professionals, providing adequate technical knowhow and providing an option for financial saving estimates, while at the same time keeping the guidelines simple to read, understand and use. A stakeholder dialogue session was made at the start of the project and it provided the basis for the issues that should be addressed by the proposed Passive Design Guideline. In total ten chapters were developed.
