Zusammenfassung

Der Begriff Kieselsäurediagenese hat verschiedene Bedeutungen, da er verschiedene Prozesse der Diagenese beinhaltet. Er umfasst die Umwandlung leichter löslicher metastabiler in schwerer lösliche und schließlich stabile feste Kieselsäurephasen unter Wasserabgabe bei der Versenkungsdiagenese. Er bezeichnet ferner die Verdrängung durch Kieselsäure von ursprünglich nicht kieseligen Substanzen, besonders Karbonaten, Evaporiten, fossilem Holz oder vulkanischen Gesteinen, verursacht durch kieselsäureübersättigte Fluide einschließlich hydrothermaler Lösungen.
