On 1 December 2017, ZF Friedrichshafen will acquire IEE Sensing Germany. The service provider specialises in the software development of autonomous driving functions.

IEE Sensing Germany’s twenty employees consist mostly of computer scientists, physicists and software developers with many years of experience in the automotive industry. They will become part of ZF’s subsidiary “Zukunft Ventures” working under the name “Zukunft Mobility”. With their longstanding experience in artificial intelligence, these engineers are also expected to advance the development of functions, systems and algorithms for automated and autonomous driving, such as environment recognition, functions for automated parking or data fusion in Car-to-X.

The developers will remain at their headquarters in Kösching, Upper Bavaria, which is just off the A9 motorway. On the A9, ZF can test autonomous driving under real traffic conditions. IEE Sensing Germany GmbH was up until now part of the IEE Group, which is based in Contern, Luxembourg. IEE Sensing Germany GmbH’s former managing director Dr. Frank Keck will continue to lead his team. “With the developers from IEE Sensing Germany GmbH, we have an experienced and competent team where together, we can work on the future of the automobile industry”, says ZF CEO Dr. Stefan Sommer pleased.
