Volkswagen's I.D. Roomzz Electric SUV to Debut in China in 2021
Volkswagen is unveiling a seven-seater SUV with an electric drive at the Shanghai Motor Show. The Volkswagen I.D. Roomzz is expected to be launched onto the Chinese Market as soon as 2021.
Volkswagen is unveiling the I.D. Roomzz model at the 2019 Shanghai Motor Show. After the I.D., I.D. Crozz, I.D. Buzz, I.D. Vizzion and I.D. Buggy models, the sixth I.D. study will give the visitors of the largest car show in China an outlook on what an electrically powered Touareg could possibly look like. The approximately five metre long Volkswagen I.D. Roomzz offers room for up to seven people and is compatible with automated driving.
The Volkswagen I.D. Roomzz is powered by two electric drives with a system output of 225 kW (306 hp) that are mounted on to the front and rear axles and constitute an electric all-wheel drive. The I.D. Roomzz accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds and is electronically limited to a top speed of 180 km/h.
The I.D. Roomzz has a range of over 400 km
The battery, which will have a capacity of 82 kWh, should enable a WLTP range of 450 km. A fast charging system with a capacity of 150 kW (DC) achieves 80 percent charging in about 30 minutes.
The Volkswagen SUV will be compatible with automated driving. In "I.D. Pilot" mode, the I.D. Roomzz should be able to drive through traffic highly automated at SAE Level 4. The driving mode also affects the seats, which can then be pivoted inwards by 25 degrees. A reclining position named "I.D. Pilot Relax" will be available as well.
