VW is showing its first SUV coupe based on the modular e-drive system MEB. The VW ID.5 GTX with dual-motor all-wheel drive will be presented at the IAA 2021 as a near-production study.
The VW ID.5 GTX is the "coupe version" of the ID.4 GTX. Its silhouette features a flowing roofline that ends in an integrated rear spoiler. The ID.5 is equipped with LED matrix headlights, and the light strip at the front is now flanked by three illuminated honeycomb elements at the side. LED lights in a 3-D design can be found at the rear. The ID.5 GTX will be presented as a camouflaged study at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Munich (Germany).
The electric crossover is based on the modular e-drive system and has a dual-motor all-wheel drive system. An electric motor operates on both the front and rear axles. The VW ID.4 GTX has a system output of 220 kW (299 PS). The lithium-ion battery placed between the axles is said to enable a range of up to 497 km. In addition, the ID.5 GTX is fully networked, can receive updates over-the-air and has Car-2-X technology on board.
