Greater ease of use and a retro look: Volkswagen reveals details about the interior of the new ID. Polo.

Cockpit VW ID. Polo

The cockpit in the VW ID. Polo is dominated by two large displays. The "digital cockpit" for the driver measures 10.25 inches, while the touchscreen for the infotainment system, which is controlled by the next generation of software, is just under 13 inches. The retro trend, which works so well on the exterior of Renault's electric cars, is now finding its way into VW's interiors: A "retro view" can be set at the touch of a button on the steering wheel. The digital displays then offer the classic look of the Golf I from the 1980s. VW is also bringing more physical buttons back into the interior, for example on the newly designed steering wheel or under the strip for the central climate control functions. The selector lever for the driving modes on the right remains. There is also a rotary knob for audio control on the center console. The third generation of the "Travel Assist" driver assistance system will also be able to recognize red lights and stop signs in the future.

The battery-electric ID. Polo will be launched in spring 2026 in three power levels and with front-wheel drive on the further developed MEB+ platform. The new APP 290 electric motor provides the drive. The 85 kW (116 hp) and 99 kW (135 hp) versions will start with a 37 kWh (net) LFP battery that can be charged at up to 90 kW at a DC charging station. The 155 kW (211 hp) version and the GTI will be equipped with an NMC variant. This offers 52 kWh (net) capacity and enables ranges of up to 450 km. It can be charged at DC charging stations with up to 130 kW. The VW ID. Polo will be 4,053 mm long, 1,816 mm wide, and 1,530 mm high. The wheelbase is 2,600 mm. The ID. Polo GTI with 166 kW (226 hp) is scheduled to be launched in the course of the coming year.
