Abstract

The chapter delves into the critical importance of slope stability analysis in construction projects, with a focus on the 2D analysis methods of limit equilibrium analysis (LEA) and finite element analysis (FEA). It begins by highlighting the significance of slope stability in highways, railways, and other critical infrastructure, and discusses the various factors contributing to slope failures. The author compares the effectiveness of LEA and FEA in assessing slope stability, using case studies from Agumbe ghat and Dhobighat region in India. The chapter also includes a parametric study to analyze the impact of anchor design parameters on slope stability. The detailed comparison and practical insights make this chapter a valuable resource for professionals in the field of geotechnical engineering.
