Abstract

The article presents a innovative 5G-enabled energy-efficient full duplex asymmetrical fiber-wireless (FiWi) system incorporating resource adaptation on demand (RAoD) to optimize bandwidth utilization and reduce energy consumption. The system leverages the advantages of free space optics (FSO) and direct fiber (DF) for data transmission, switching between them based on weather conditions to ensure reliable and energy-efficient communication. The use of FWM idlers for upstream frequencies further reduces the cost and complexity of the system. The proposed system is designed to be scalable and flexible, making it a promising solution for future-generation passive optical networks (PONs).
