Abstract

The article introduces a novel cascaded tilt MPC controller for Automatic Generation Control (AGC) in multi-area interconnected Hybrid Power Systems (HPS) with high penetration of Renewable Energy Sources (RESs) and virtual inertia. The controller is optimized using the Opposition-based Seahorse Optimization (OSHO) algorithm, which enhances frequency stability and grid reliability in complex power systems. The study highlights the superior performance of the proposed controller in handling load disturbances, RES integration, and virtual inertia, as demonstrated through extensive simulations and comparisons with existing controllers. The research addresses the growing complexity of modern power systems and the need for robust control strategies to maintain system stability and efficiency.
