Abstract

This chapter introduces a groundbreaking cellular automaton (CA) model for simulating sinusoidal plane electromagnetic (EM) waves, addressing the limitations of traditional macroscopic and micro-level models. The model combines macro and micro-level characteristics, allowing for the simulation of complex boundary conditions with high accuracy and scalability. The chapter details the model's structure, including the cellular array, cell states, and transition functions, which govern the propagation of EM waves. It also describes the software implementation using the CATlib library and presents results from computational experiments, demonstrating the model's effectiveness in simulating wave propagation and interference patterns. The model's isotropy and the absence of rounding errors are highlighted as key advantages. Future research directions include determining other medium parameters and investigating parallel implementation on computational clusters. This innovative approach offers a promising solution for practical modeling of EM phenomena, particularly in scenarios with complex boundaries.
