Abstract

The chapter addresses the pressing issue of food security with the projected population increase by 2050. It introduces a decision support system designed to optimize agricultural planning, focusing on Eskişehir, Turkey. The study employs mixed integer programming to determine the most suitable crop patterns and create a production plan that maximizes revenue while preserving soil quality. The model considers ecological requirements and parcel-month suitability, ensuring that each crop is planted at least once and preventing negative soil impacts. The proposed system aims to guide users, including provincial directorates and farmers, towards more sustainable and profitable agricultural practices. The chapter concludes by discussing the potential of metaheuristic algorithms and intelligent agricultural systems to further enhance the model's effectiveness.
