Abstract

This chapter delves into the critical issue of dynamic labor planning in manufacturing systems, where unexpected absences and resource fluctuations significantly impact productivity. Traditional methods often fall short in addressing these challenges effectively. The authors introduce a innovative digital twin-based decision support system that leverages real-time data to optimize labor allocation. This system not only helps in real-time reallocation but also simulates various scenarios to predict future performance. The chapter presents a case study from a cellular manufacturing system, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed framework. It highlights the benefits of using digital twin technology in enhancing operational flexibility and efficiency, making it a valuable resource for professionals seeking advanced solutions in labor management.
