Abstract

The article introduces a new formaldehyde-free flame retardant for cotton fabrics, synthesized from phosphamide and ammonium phosphate. The flame retardant is grafted onto cotton fabric via P–O–C covalent bonds, resulting in excellent flame retardancy and durability. The treated cotton fabric exhibits a high LOI value and maintains its flame retardancy even after 50 laundry cycles. The synthesis process is simple, and the raw materials are cheap and environmentally friendly. The study also includes detailed characterization and testing of the treated fabrics, demonstrating their superior performance compared to traditional flame retardants.
