Abstract

This chapter delves into the evaluation of failure rates for distribution network lines under the combined impacts of wind and rain disasters, specifically typhoons and heavy rains. It introduces an improved Rankine model to describe typhoon wind speeds and calculates the load on distribution network wires and tower poles under these conditions. The text also explores the impact of rainstorms on wires, considering raindrop diameter and typhoon wind speed. A numerical example using a 28-node system illustrates the failure rates under different weather conditions. The analysis reveals that both wind speed and rainfall density significantly influence the failure rates of distribution network lines. The chapter concludes with a comprehensive failure rate evaluation model that considers both typhoon and heavy rain disasters, providing a foundation for enhancing the resilience of distribution networks against extreme weather events.
