Abstract

The article presents the synthesis and characterization of a hierarchical NiFe-LDH@CoP core-shell array on carbon cloth (CC) as an effective electrocatalyst for seawater oxidation. The NiFe-LDH@CoP/CC array exhibits remarkable OER activity, achieving a current density of 500 mA cm−2 with a low overpotential of 251 mV in alkaline seawater. The catalyst's stability is demonstrated through long-term durability tests, maintaining efficiency for 300 hours without significant degradation. The study emphasizes the synergistic effects of the NiFe-LDH shell and CoP core, enhancing electrical conductivity and active site exposure. The work not only contributes to the field of seawater electrolysis but also opens avenues for future research in hierarchical nanostructures for sustainable hydrogen production.
